" ¡ LEARN AND HAVE FUN ! "
 " ENJOY YOURSELF "

During the afternoons you can participate, independently of your course and with students from other classes, in various culture activities like :

  • Dancing courses :  Latin American ,  South American  or Peruvian folkloric dances.

  • Cooking classes

  • Opportunities to practice a variety of sports

  • Excursions in the city and the surrounding areas of Arequipa.

"Have Fun "  it consists of spontaneous activities.

A very important part of a country's culture is its own traditional and popular music. Using music as a means of transmitting Peruvian culture also forms an important part in the learning of Spanish language.

"Have Fun " wants to bring you close to Peruvian's musical background in its different forms. This will take you on a journey through the world of Hispanic music and shows you how Peruvian  rhythms are deeply rooted in the Peruvian character, starting with "marinera", "tondero", "huayños", "pampeñas",  "sayas", carnaval, etc.

In these classes we will not only use music to improve your level of Spanish but also as an exercise in understanding our culture, allowing our students to take their first steps in moving to these rhythms. A relaxed, playful and fun way of introducing you to the roots of Peruvian music.

" ¡ LEARN AND HAVE FUN ! "

tries to bring the student closer to the atmosphere of  Arequipa, outwith the schools teaching schedule and involves you in the life, tradition and character of the Peruvian people. Learn about Arequipa`s way of life.

The nightlife, the culture and how to have a good time are parts of life that are difficult to get to know well unless you are shown them by a native who will act as a guide and catalyst between the students and the real life of the town. We go out to dance and soak up the different atmospheres offered in the city.

"¡Have fun!" is aimed at people between the ages of 18 and 60, although it is also for people who have exceeded this age and who are eternally young.

The contents are diverse and range from getting to know the nightlife, to attending the theatre, cinema and other cultural activities. We go out to dance and soak up the different atmospheres offered in the city.

Another aspect of  "¡Have fun!" is that it gives you the opportunity to try the local cuisine through cooking activities, where you will learn how to make rocoto relleno, chupe de camarones, cauche de queso;  pisco souer, etc.

"¡ Have fun !" does not include drinks, food, tickets, etc. We all put our money together and make a "fondo" - another very typical and sociable Peruvian custom. .

TOURS FROM AREQUIPA

  COLCA CANYON

We will start driving, about 8 hours, to the Highlands, between the volcanoes Misti and Chachani. Crossing the "Aguada Blanca" Reserve (Vicuñas).  Then we will reach the Colca Canyon, the world's deepest Canyon (9600 ft. deep).

While the Andean condors (Andean birds) circle above the Colca River, you can descend on foot or horseback on trails cut into multi-colored sandstone walls, on hikes that take from a day to a week.

You can also cross the Canyon and climb the slopes of "El Misti" (18300 ft.) from whose snows the Amazon River is born.

. And for the Adventurers!!: Experienced rafters and kayaks can descend the mighty river on a 2 day trip.

  COTAHUASI CANYON

Another claimant to the title of world´s deepest canyon, along with nearby Colca and the Grand Canyon in the USA, it runs more or less parallel to the Cordillera de Chila, and is in possession of some pretty impressive statistics:around 3400 m. deep and over 100 km. long, it effectively divides the earth´s crust between the towering volcanos of Coropuna (6425m) and Ampato (6325m.) . In the mountain from where the Rio Cotahuasi gushes forth, at over 4000 m. above sea level, was recognized by the National Geographic Society

  CUZCO

Cuzco,  also known as the archeological Capital of America, was the center of the Inca Empire.  According to legend, the city was founded about 1200 BC by Manco Capac and Mama Ocllo, who emerged from the depths of Lake Titicaca at the command of their father, the sun.  This period ended with the arrival of the conqueror Francisco Pizarro in November 15, 1533, when the Spanish domination began.

In Cuzco, there are the monumental ruins of MACHU PICHU " The lost city of the Incas "  these are the most impressive ruins, being exclusively made of stone and without the help of any modern mechanical devices.

  PUNO

Puno is a southeastern city located into the highlands or "altiplano", a windy plateau at a breathtaking 12000 meters above sea level. This city is situated on the shores of Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world and actually the crater of an extinct volcano.

The weather is cold and the atmosphere is thin, but the area is rich with spectacular landscapes and imposing archaeological ruins.

Puno was founded by Viceroy Conde de Lemos on November 4, 1688. Legend has it that Manco Capac, the first Inca, and Mama Ocllo, his sister-consort, rose from the waters of Lake Titicaca to found the Inca Empire.  The royal pair is said to be the ancestors of the Uros Indians, whose descendants now inhabit the famous floating islands of the lake, constructed of totora reeds that grow along the lakeshore.

  NAZCA /  PARACAS  ( ICA )

Nazca is located in the city of Ica, in the South of Peru, where we have the famous Nazca Lines. The Lines cover a surface of more than 500 square km. in the desert between Palpa, Nazca and Pampa Colorada.

The Nazca Lines, carved by this culture into the earth's surface, are only clearly visible from the air and represent a variety of different figures: a bird, a monkey, a spider and geometrical lines. The reasons for these carvings are still unknown, but are believed by some to be attempts at communication with other planets.
